2019 Opening Day Guide

2019 Opening Day Guide

Welcome back to another fantastic season of St. Thomas Coed Slo-Pitch. There is lots to be done before the first pitch, during your games, and after the day is over. Here is a helpful guide to some of the things you need to do in order get your season off to a good start.

Before the Game

  • Make sure you register your team with SPN (Slo-Pitch National).
  • Make sure your players have signed off on their waiver.
  • Check the Schedule to see your game times.
    • Everyone plays twice on Opening Day!
  • Encourage your team to carry Government Issued ID in the event of a Roster Challenge.
  • Make sure all underage players have submitted their Parental waiver.
  • Please bring a Scorebook or sheet to the game. (We will supply an SPN book on Week 1).

At the Game

  • Bring a new SPN Hot Dot Ball(s) to be used during your game(s).
  • Please be on time for your game, the Umpire is not required to give you a grace period.
  • Confirm with the Umpires the start time of your game.
    • No Inning can start after 1:15 and the maximum game time is 1:30.
  • Be aware of Home and Away teams. If neither team knows who it Home, it will result in a coin toss.
    • Home teams are listed both on the Website Schedule and in the Schedule Booklet.
  • Pick up your Schedule Booklet from a member of the Executive and distribute them to your team.
  • Be aware of League Rules.
  • Remember you must alternate Male and Female players in your batting order.
  • You can have no more than 5 male players in the field.
  • You must have a minimum of 4 female players in the field.
    • This would result in a maximum of 9 total players on the diamond (5 Male + 4 Female).
  • All Home Runs must be retrieved by the team that hit them.
  • 6-run limit per inning.
  • 10-run mercy after 5-innings.
  • The final inning is unlimited.

After the Game

  • The Winning team has to report the final score and total innings played on the appropriate Dated
and Divisional Facebook post. (see example, click to enlarge )
  • The sooner you report your scores the sooner we can update the standings.
  • The losing team should double check the posted score. In the event of a discrepancy, the Home team’s score will be used.
  • Any team that fails to report their score will have their game recorded as a tie.
  • If you have any questions regarding your game or other concerns, please contact a member of the Executive as soon as possible.
