The road to a championship is officially set. The 2026 St. Thomas Women’s Slo-Pitch League Playoffs are ready to get underway, and across both divisions, the opening round brings together dominant favourites, defending champions, compelling rematches and challengers looking to turn an entire season on its head.
In Division 1, all eyes remain on the two-time defending playoff champion Dirty Pitches, who enter as the No. 1 seed after a remarkable 25-0-1 regular season and have earned a direct ticket to the semi-finals. The other side of the bracket is wide open: No. 3 Each Hit meets No. 6 Hit Happens after Each Hit took the season series 3-1, while No. 2 Ritchies Expendables carry a perfect 4-0 head-to-head record against No. 7 Smack It into their quarter-final.
The tightest D1 matchup on paper belongs to No. 4 Elgin Optical and No. 5 Lady Rebels — the Rebels hold a 3-1 season-series advantage, setting the stage for a dangerous 4-vs-5 showdown. And there is another championship storyline lurking in the bracket: Each Hit captured the Division 2 playoff championship last season, and after moving up to D1, they’ll now try to carry that postseason pedigree into a much tougher field.
Division 2 has its own championship chase, led by No. 1 Rex Appeal, whose outstanding 24-1-1 record earned them a quarter-final bye and the inside track into the semi-finals. No. 2 Ball Bashers also advance directly to the final four after a 20-6-0 campaign, leaving two quarter-final series to determine who joins them.
No. 3 Lady Outcasts face No. 6 ImageLine with one of the most decisive head-to-head advantages of the opening round — a 6-0 season sweep — while No. 4 Diamond Divas battle No. 5 Hair Balls after the Divas won that matchup 4-1 during the regular season.
The numbers establish the favourites, but the postseason has a way of rewriting the script. Regular-season records are erased, every inning carries a little more weight, and eight teams across two divisions now begin the chase for the one thing that matters most: an STSPA playoff championship.
