2023 St. Thomas NAPA Auto Parts Power Rankings | Week 14- The Final Countdown

2023 St. Thomas NAPA Auto Parts Power Rankings | Week 14- The Final Countdown

The Power Rankings take into account a variety of stats and scenarios regardless of the divisional home of each team. The rankings are not a prediction of who would win in a head-to-head matchup nor are they exclusively ranked based on seasonal statistics. A hot streak or tournament success can launch a team on the cusp into contention while a series of setbacks could knock any club, even one in the top spot in their division, from the ranks. Good luck!

2023 POWER RANKINGS- Week 14- The Final Countdown
1)Scared Hitless
15-3-0 icon-trophy
D3While not even listed as a preseason Dark Horse, Scared Hitless has made a home on the Rankings since the season started. With some hard work, they have finally made the ascent to the top spot. Winners of 5 in a row, there is stil work to be done as the Zombies hold a narrow 2-point lead over one of the hottest teams in the League. Adding to the pressure of being on top, this club is 1 of only 4 that are still in contention to take home the Triple Crown as the Regular Season, MSC, and City Champs. They will finish the season with a pair of tough games against contenders Pound Town and Balled & Beautiful. Including those clubs, Division 3 is littered with talented teams looking to knock off the #1 ranked squad.3
2)Beer Ballers
14-3-1 icon-trophy
D6Clinching the Division title in Week #13, Beer Ballers officially have secured both the MSC and Regular Season crowns. Two down, one to go. That being said, there appears to be an immediate threat on the horizon in the form of the red hot Glo-Balls. Beer Ballers dropped their Week 13 opening game to the #2 squad before rebounding in the night cap. Entering the season as a top contender, the Ballers have lived up to expectation, boasting the 2nd best offense and top defense (by a mile) in the division. A strong finish againsts Bat Reputations and Offspring will serve to build momentum heading into the biggest tournament in League history.-
3)Slammin Bananas
13-5-0 icon-trophyB
D2The streak continues, now boasting the longest active winning streak in the League at 12, the Slammin Bananas are on fire. Their division title hopes remain alive, but they will need some serious help. They currently sit 3 points back of Ice Cold Pitchers with only 4 points left up for grabs. If the Bananas can manifest the unlikely Division title, they will add it to an MSC B crown earned back in July. A slow start to the season prevented the Bananas from taking a shot at the top MSC title, but they are a clear contender heading into the City event. Their Week 11 win over ICP arguably makes them the team to beat. But, as has been the case in D2 in each of last 2 years; the pre-City favourites have failed to reach the finals, let alone win the title. There is plenty of work to be done.7
4)Ice Cold Pitchers
14-3-1 icon-trophy
D2The winners of the MSC title, Ice Cold Pitchers control their Division title destiny, needing a win or a Bananas' loss to clinch. Their defense remains the key to their success, relinquishing 21 runs less than the #2 defensive squad. They have played some close ball of late with a tie agiainst Back Alley Brew Crew in Week 13 and a couple of 1-run wins dating back to late July. While, No Base Like Home came up just 3-runs short last Sunday. It could be argued that ICP and the Bananas are in a 2 horse race, but prior to 2023 One Hit Wonders had been to the finals in each of the last four D2 tournaments they participated in and 5 of 6 dating back to 2019. Further, No Base Like Home went the distance at the 2023 MSC. There are contenders everywhere and upsets to be had.3
5)The Madness
15-3-0
D5Their team name is incredibly indicative of the divison title race that they currently find themsevles in. The Madness are back on top of the division, but only by virtue of a superior run differential over the Misfits. Head to head, the season series is tied at 1 win each, with no games left between the pair. A 2-0 finish to the season will most likely give the squad their first division title. Conversley, a loss or two could send them tumbling off the top rope to as low as 3rd place with Off In Right Field also still in the hunt. The Madness are the best offensive and defensive team in the division, ranking #2 across the entire League in both categories. Their final 2 opponents both sit outside the top 4, but they would be ill-advised to take either club lightly as they prepare for a potential City title run.-
6)Misfits
15-3-0
D5All good things eventually come to an end. The Misfits rattled off 14 consecutive regular season wins, to rally from a 1-3 start to the season. The longest streak in the league culminated with the club sitting atop the Division- but only for a brief time. Their loss last Sunday to You Miss You Drink, coupled with the Madness winning their 4th in a row dropped the Misfits back to #2. The Misfits can still win the Division title, but they have a more difficult road ahead of them. Next Sunday, they face the #3 ranked Off In Right Field- winners of the MSC. The Right Fielders are only 2 points behind the Misfits, but the Misfits hold the first tie breaker with a 2-0 head to head record. Regardless of the epic run, the Misfits will be in a battle at the City's with tough opposition across the board. They won their first tournament in 2022, can they add their first City Championship this fall?1
7)Tailgators
15-2-1
D4Now in position to win the #1 overall spot in Division 4, the Tailgators hold a 3-point edge over the Mad Hatters with just 4 points left on the table. That being said, the Gators and the Hatters go one on one in a battle of division top teams this Sunday. A win for the Tailgators will clinch the top spot, a loss and they have to win their final game or get some help from the Minimum Wagers versus the Hatters in Week 15. Winners of 4 in a row, the Gators are on a mission to reclaim the D4 City title that they won back in 2020. A compromised MSC effort is well in the rearview mirror, as they have gone 7-1 since the July tournament. Their lone loss came versus the beasts of the East, so a win this Sunday is needed to cement themselves as the pre-City tournament favourites.2
8)House of Broken Promises
14-4-0
D3Keeping pace with Scared Hitless has not been easy and for a portion of the season it was a trio of teams in the hunt, with Balled & Beautiful also in the mix. House of Broken Promises has not lost a regular season game since June 25th; a 1-run loss to Pound Town. Their streak has seen them record double digit offense in all but 1 of their 9 wins, including a 22-12 victory over the Zombies back in Week #9. Their final 2 games are against tough opposition in the form of Smash N Dash and Bucks & Broads. To grab top spot from Scared Hitless, they will need 2 wins and some help from either Pound Town or Balled & Beautiful. They split the head to head 1-1 and currently hold the edge in run differential, so a tie in the standings would most likely favour the House.

9)Pirates
10-8-0
D1The second new club on our list, makes their Ranking debut under unconventional circumstances. Currently placed 4th of 6 teams, the Pirates are in a 3-way tie with New Wave and WFK, but have the lowest run differential of the 3 clubs. Regardless, they are the hottest team in the division having won 4 in a row with a 6-3-0 record since the July tournament. Included in their current surge are a pair of wins over the now clinched Divisional Champ Red Sox and 2 victories over the defending City Champions, New Wave. Most recently, the Pirates mercied New Wave to cap off a day that started with a come-from-behind 7th inning rally over the Red Sox. The Bucs can finish has high as 2nd or as low as 4th, facing GamedayLondon.com and WFK to finish the year. A continued hot run into the City Championships could set the stage for the Pirates' first appearence in a tournament final.

10)Mad Hatters
14-4-0
D4Rounding out the rankings is a club currently experiencing the most turbulence they have gone through all season. The schedule has not been kind to the Mad Hatters of late, facing the the Jokers, O's, and Tailgators in 3 of their last 4 games- winning just 1. They had a chance to clinch the East, but loses to both division rivals kept them in the hunt. Now, they return their attention to the Gators in a battle of top teams, needing a win to keep their overall Division aspirations alive. They beat the Gators 10-6 in Week #11. The defending D4 City Champions need to finish the season strong in order to establish themselves as the pre-City favourites. With multiple opponents appearing to be peaking at the right time, the quest for a repeat could prove daunting- but not unmanageable if they can return to form.7
On the Cusp: Red Sox, WFK, One Hit Wonders, No Base Like Home, Rebels, Pound Town, Balled & Beautiful, The O's, The Jokers, Off In Right Field, You Miss You Drink, Glo-Balls, & Pitch Perfect.
